The research conducted at the Israel (Novocure, Israel Institute of Technology, Weizmann Institute of Science and Elisha Medical Centre) indicate disruption of cancer cell replication by alternating electric fields. The effect is found to be selective, affecting only dividing cell lines and sparing the quiescent ones. The electric field arrests cell proliferation as well as destruction of cells while undergoing division. Just before a dividing cell splits in two, it briefly forms an hourglass shape before the two daughter cells pinch off, and this shape is particularly vulnerable to electricity. The current gets concentrated at the cell’s narrow waist, and at the very moment of division, the cell membrane is destroyed, and the cells disintegrate. The mechanism of action of the fields, researchers say, depends on disruption of the microtubules of the mitotic spindle and the electric forces resulting from focusing of the field in the dividing cells. The spindle is composed of cell components known as microtubules. The microtubules contain components that have high electric dipole moment, in which there is a large separation of opposite electric charges. Therefore, parts of the mitotic spindle are greatly influenced and apparently get disrupted by an electric field.

The cancer fighting abilities of this technique are being evaluated on human patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (GBM); a fast growing, and difficult to treat form of brain cancer. This new technique exploits the difference between normal cells and cancer cells; it acts only on physically splitting cancer cells. The researchers are optimistic as they observed slower than usual progress in the development of brain tumour; in some cases even cell regression was observed. It is believed that this technique will work on all type of cancers and can possibly be applied to many different disease types. When the technique is applied in association with chemotherapy, its effect has been found more promising; the electric fields appear to make the cancer cells far more susceptible to chemotherapy without any additional increase in side effects and toxicity.

A Finnish member of the World Health Organization board, an advisor on vaccines, has received 6 million Euros for his research center from the vaccine manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline.

Although WHO promises transparency, this conflict of interest is not available for the public to see at WHO’s homepage.

Professor Juhani Eskola is the director of the Finnish research vaccine program and a new member of the WHO group ‘Strategic Advisory Group of Experts’ (SAGE).

SAGE recommends which vaccines — and how many — member countries should purchase for the pandemic.

According to documents acquired through the Danish Freedom of Information Act, Eskola’s Finnish institute, THL, received almost 6.3 million Euros from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for research on vaccines during 2009. GlaxoSmithKline produces the H1N1-vaccine ‘Pandemrix,’ which the Finnish government — following recommendations from THL and WHO — purchased for a national pandemic reserve stockpile.

Several other WHO experts also have financial ties to the pharmaceutical industry–a double role that notably is not published by WHO.

WHO ADVISED BY SECRET COMMITTEE ON THE SWINE FLU

The names of the members of a group that acts as advisers to WHO on the swine flu are a closely kept secret. The group advocated upgrading the status of the flu from epidemic to pandemic. Since then, pharmaceutical companies have sold more than 55-billion crowns worth of vaccines, writes the Danish daily news outlet “Information”.

WHO relies on a secret group of experts, the so-called Emergency Committee. The organisation consults this Emergency Committee on managing the swine flu.  The committee is at the epicentre of desicion-making and recommended the declaration of a swine flu pandemic to Director General, Margaret Chan. A recommendation that she implemented on June 11th this year, referring to the group of experts. This resulted in enormous economic gains for the pharmaceutical industry.

Many member countries – among them, Denmark – have contracts with the big pharma companies and are obliged to buy vaccines when WHO determines that a virus is a pandemic. The investment bank J.P. Morgan estimates that vaccines and other types of flu medicine amounting to more than 55 billions of crowns have been sold since this declaration.

In spite of the committee’s enormous influence and power, the public is not allowed to learn who the members of the committee actually are. As a consequence, the public is also denied access to information needed to check whether the members of this group are on the payroll of the pharma industry. The only information available to the public is that the committee consists of 18 people whom the Director General has selected from WHO’s list of experts.

But such a level of transparency is inadequate according to Peter Goetzsche, who is the leader of the independent research institution, Cochrane, in Copenhagen.

“It is not acceptable that a secret committee gives advice to WHO in a matter of such importance. There needs to be complete transparency over who they are and what conflicts of interests the committee may have. If this is not the case, people cannot have confidence in what is going on,” says Peter Goetzsche.

According to earlier information, WHO has members in it’s groups of consultants who are on the payroll of the pharma industry. Peter Goetzsche fears that this could also be the case with the Emergency Committee.

“That committee possesses enormous power. And yet we don’t know whether those people who are sitting on it receive money from or have stocks in those firms which produce the vaccines,” says Peter Goetzsche.

Managing director of Danish Board of Health, Jesper Fisker, agrees.

“It is unnacceptable that we cannot see who the members of the committee actually are and consequently cannot see what interests are represented. It has to be part of the common ambition of openness and transparency that we can see, what role the committee plays and who the members are,” he says and adds:  “The  more influential a committee is, the more important it is, that there is transparency. And if they have given advice concerning an important decision – and that seems to be the case – then it is even more important that there is transparency. This simply has to happen.”

Frequency Foundation has reported on this previously and developed frequencies for XXDR TB. These were distributed to Frequency Foundation subscribers some months ago.

From a frequency point of view this is just another bacteria associated with a set of parasites and viruses that enable it to flourish. However, from a public health point of view it can be a disaster as conventional medicine has no good solution.

It started with a cough, an autumn hack that refused to go away.  Then came the fevers. They bathed and chilled the skinny frame of Oswaldo Juarez, a 19-year-old Peruvian visiting to study English. His lungs clattered, his chest tightened and he ached with every gasp. During a wheezing fit at 4 a.m., Juarez felt a warm knot rise from his throat. He ran to the bathroom sink and spewed a mouthful of blood.

I’m dying, he told himself, “because when you cough blood, it’s something really bad.”
It was really bad, and not just for him.

Doctors say Juarez’s incessant hack was a sign of what they have both dreaded and expected for years — this country’s first case of a contagious, aggressive, especially drug-resistant form of tuberculosis. The Associated Press learned of his case, which until now has not been made public, as part of a six-month look at the soaring global challenge of drug resistance.

Juarez’s strain — so-called extremely drug-resistant (XXDR) TB — has never before been seen in the U.S., according to Dr. David Ashkin, one of the nation’s leading experts on tuberculosis. XXDR tuberculosis is so rare that only a handful of other people in the world are thought to have had it.

“He is really the future,” Ashkin said. “This is the new class that people are not really talking too much about. These are the ones we really fear because I’m not sure how we treat them.”

Forty years ago, the world thought it had conquered TB and any number of other diseases through the new wonder drugs: Antibiotics. U.S. Surgeon General William H. Stewart announced it was “time to close the book on infectious diseases and declare the war against pestilence won.”

Today, all the leading killer infectious diseases on the planet — TB, malaria and HIV among them — are mutating at an alarming rate, hitchhiking their way in and out of countries. The reason: Overuse and misuse of the very drugs that were supposed to save us.

As a mathematical epidemiologist, I am proud that a member of the profession has turned some epidemiological tools on the root cause of the swine flu pandemic. An investigation was initiated both by the former German Bundestag Wolfgang Wodarg (SPD) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Wodarg is a physician and epidemiologist who is head of the subcommittee on health and he considers the handling of the swine flu to be “one of the biggest medical scandals of the century”.

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT TO INVESTIGATE WHO IN JANUARY 2010

The Council of Europe member states are to launch an inquiry in January 2010 on the influence of the pharmaceutical companies on the global swine flu campaign, focussing especially on extent of the pharma‘s industry’s influence on WHO, according to reports in the German media.

Wolfgang Wodarg , former SPD member of parliament, and chairman of the European parliament’s health committee, initiated the inquiry. The motion was passed unanimously by his colleagues in the European parliament‘s health committee.

Wodarg has criticised the measures taken against the swine flu as one of the biggest medical scandals of the century.“

He said the influence of the the pharamaceutical industry on scientists and government officials has resulted in millions of healthy people being exposed unnecessarily to the risks of an inadequately tested vaccine.“

That even though, the swine flu virus is much less harmful“ than last year’s seasonal flu causing not even a tenth of the usual deaths associated with flu.“

Wodarg has also criticised the way pharemceutical companies have made gigantic profits at the expense of tax payers.

He accused vaccine manufacturers of being willing even to inflict bodily harm“ in their pursuit of profits, noting that the adjuvants in the swine flu jab have hardly been tested.

In addtion,the vaccine‘s side effects including dangerous paralysis have not been adequately recorded.

Wodarg has said that the role of the WHO and its the pandemic emergency declaration in June needs to be the especial focus of a European parliamtary inquiry. For the first time the criteria for a pandemic was made not the actual risk of a diseases but the number of cases of the disease.

By classifying the swine flu as pandemic, nations were compelled to implement pandemic plans and also  the purchase swine flu vaccines.

Because WHO is not subject to any parliamentary control, Wodarg argued it is necessary for governments to insist on accountability.

U.S. healthcare is the most expensive in the world and has the worst healthcare outcomes of most developed countries. The data is unassailable and studiously ignored by the media. Most Americans think healthcare in the U.S. is good and that is probably why so many of them are fat, sick, ignorant, and die an early death at the hands of their doctor.

The last time I checked, the nurses in California will not check into a hospital without a buddy nurse who takes time off from work to watch every procedure done in the hospital on their fellow nurse. It is too risky to enter the hospital without an external expert watching your every move.

Dr. Barbara Starfield of John’s Hopkins University reported in JAMA in 2000 that every year in the US there are:
12,000 deaths from unnecessary surgeries;
7,000 deaths from medication errors in hospitals;
20,000 deaths from other errors in hospitals;
80,000 deaths from infections acquired in hospitals;
106,000 deaths from FDA-approved correctly prescribed medicines.
The total of medically-caused deaths in the US every year is 225,000.

Medical treatment is conservatively the third leading cause of death in the US, behind heart disease and cancer and a recent interview with Dr. Starfield indicates it is just getting worse. Alterations of nAChRs and ERK1/2 in the brains of rats with chronic fluorosis and their connections with the decreased capacity of learning and memory

In order to reveal the mechanism of the decreased ability of learning and memory induced by chronic fluorosis, nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) and the pathway of extracellular signal regulated protein kinase (ERK1/2) were investigated by using the rats fed with different concentrations of sodium fluoride for 6 months. Spatial learning and memory of the rats were evaluated by Morris Water Maze test. The expressions of nAChRs, ERK1/2 and mitogen-induced extracellular kinase (MEK1/2) at protein and mRNA levels were detected by Western blotting and Real-time PCR, respectively. The results showed that as compared with controls, the learning and memory capacity in the rats with fluorosis was decreased. The protein expressions of α7 and α4 nAChR subunits in rat brains with fluorosis were decreased by 35% and 33%, whereas the corresponding receptor subunit mRNAs didn’t exhibit any changes. The increases of phospho- and total- ERK1/2 as well as phospho-MEK1/2 at the protein levels were found in the brains of rats with fluorosis as compared to controls, and no difference of ERK1/2 mRNA was found. In addition, the activation rate of phospho-ERK1/2 was decreased in the brains affected with fluorosis. The modifications of nAChRs and ERK1/2 pathway might be connected with the molecular mechanisms in the decreased capacity of learning and memory of the rats with fluorosis.

Previous studies suggest that sodium fluoride (NaF) can impair performance in some memory tasks, such as open-field habituation and two-way active avoidance. In the present study, we evaluated the effect of NaF intake (100 ppm in drinking water for 30 days) and its short-term (15 days) withdrawal on open-field habituation and brain monoamine level. Adult male rats were allocated to three groups: tap water (NaF 1.54 ppm) for 45 days (control group); 15 days of tap water followed by NaF for 30 days; and NaF for 30 days followed by 15 days of tap water. The results showed that NaF impairs open-field habituation and increases noradrenaline (NA) and serotonin (5-HT) in the striatum, hippocampus and neocortex. Dopamine (DA) increase was restricted to the striatum. Short-term NaF withdrawal did not reverse these NaF-induced changes, and both NaF treatments led to a mild fluorosis in rat incisors. No treatment effect was seen in body weight or fluid/water consumption. These results indicate that sodium fluoride induces memory impairment that outlasts short-term NaF withdrawal (2 weeks) and may be associated with NA and 5-HT increases in discrete brain regions.

Now that the swine flu epidemic is winding down and the fear, panic, and greed are subsiding we might look at this event more objectively and start holding certain individuals more accountable for their behavior. In the financial community, there is at least some investigation of the causes of the  financial crisis. Could we at least do as well in investigating the healthcare business?

Healthcare policy is affected by corruption and given what is going on in the world it is interesting to see which countries are most corrupt. Iceland and Finland are the least corrupt countries in the world which might explain the position of the former Health Minister of Finland. Denmark and Sweden are in the top six clean countries and their news is reporting on suspected bribes in the WHO vaccine business. You probably won’t hear about it in the U.S.  as there are too few real journalists left to follow the money.

World Health Organization scientists are suspected of accepting secret bribes from vaccine manufacturers to influence the U.N. organization’s H1N1 pandemic declaration, according to Danish and Swedish newspapers.

Meanwhile, pharmaceutical profits from swine-flu related drugs have soared – with earnings between $10 billion and $15 billion in 2009, investment bank JP Morgan estimates.

“Many doctors are afraid that Swine Flu vaccines will actually be more deadly than the swine flu itself and will not give the injections to their kids. Doctors do not notice that they are harming and even killing infants with their childhood immunization programs because they don’t even bother to look. It is hard to understand how some very intelligent people, fully educated to the dangers of vaccines, can still not come out clearly against them.

I was astonished last night when a friend asked if I was going to get the flu shot! Doesn’t anyone look at the lack of data on efficacy of flu shots? Or the fact that our previous administration made vaccine manufacturers immune from prosecution no matter how many people they maim or kill with flu shots! The reason for this is that the damages might be greater than the profits so the vaccine manufacturers might be reluctant to do business. The last swine flu vaccine killed 300 times more people than the swine flu itself.

Doesn’t anyone know there are no clinical trials done on these vaccines and they would never pass the FDA test for efficacy and could never be marketed as a new drug? Don’t they know that the squalene in the flu shot may be responsible for the Gulf War Syndrome and that the mercury is hazardous and known to destroy nervous system tissue.

Does anyone read the news about Baxter, a leading manufacturer of these vaccines, when recently they “accidentally” released a huge amount of animal vaccine contaminated with a deadly form of avian flu virus that killed every test animal innoculated. Don’t they know that this virus must be contained under the highest levels of security and violators usually go to jail (unless they are vaccine manufacturers)?

Doesn’t that worry you? Well if that doesn’t, listen to the experts on flu vaccinations.

“Dr. Anthony Morris, a distinguished virologist and former Chief Vaccine Office at the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA), states that “There is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed is effective in preventing or mitigating any attack of influenza” and that “The producers of these vaccines know they are worthless, but they go on selling them anyway.”

And in November 2007, the UK newspaper The Scotsman, made public warnings by the inventor of the “flu jab,” Dr. Graeme Laver.

Dr. Laver was a major Australian scientist involved in the invention of a flu vaccine, in addition to playing a leading scientific role in the discovery of anti-flu drugs. He went on record as saying the vaccine he helped to create was ineffective and [that] natural infection with the flu was safer. “I have never been impressed with its efficacy,” said Dr. Laver.” Read more …
